New 2D locations and planned quests

taliasolo | 27 July, 2011 15:59

Hello all!  I've been working on Jhal-Abur a bit over the summer, but it looks as though the summer heat has gotten to everyone and the citizens of Jhal-Abur are a bit disorganized as a result.  The next quest planned was going to be on the Denny Cringe storyline, but after realizing that it would be far more complex to put together than I'd originally thought (I want to finish at least one new quest before September) and also upon realizing that the majority of my interesting quests start in Bakkistan, I've decided to tinker around a bit and develop some of the other towns as well.

The current quest I'm working on starts in Ahmad and will be part of a new 2 or 3 quest storyline that I've had as an idea since I started working on Jhal-Abur.  It's a more traditional sort of quest in the tradition of knights in shining armor, but to make it more interesting I have plans to use some of the new checks made available to island managers (thank Kerrik for making them available!)

Now for the 2D locations.  I've revamped the entrance to the palace of Jhal-Abur and also made available the new Sahagobi Desert 2D location (which will be used for the quest I am working on currently).  The Sahagobi's quite an interesting place to wander around, but there's nobody to talk to just yet.

Also planned sometime when I have time is a complete reconstruction of the layout of Quammad.  I consider it to be my *hem* ugliest city right now,  as does the Sultan (the construction, particularly of the apartment complex, is rather outdated and old).  It will involve a lot of moving around however, so it'll be a while as questwriting is my main priority at the moment.

Spy Club #3 is now out!

Once again, I have been unable to keep up with my blog-writing :( it's been a very hectic year for me, but I'm hoping that with summer coming I will be able to relax more and do some more quest writing/upkeep on Jhal-Abur.

One of the things I have tried to squeeze in during my free time throughout this year was to write another Spy Club Quest.  And it seems, at last, that I have finally finished it!  Talk to Henri for Spy Club #3: Patrick and the Silver Thingymabob.  It involves high-seas adventures, a sinister group of enemies, strange languages, and Silver Dissolvent.  To all the Spy Club agents out there, Good Luck!

I have also remodeled the Hospital into a nice 2D location.  Developments for quests have been planned, but it may be a long time before I implement them.

So, what's next in the pipeline?  I suppose another Denny Cringe Quest would be in order, though I have to work out more details and write a few more books on Jhal-Aburian case law.  I also have yet to make the town Guide System and perhaps put a nice Japanese Ryokan in Bakkistan.  I also want to open up the Sahagobi Desert properly someday, but not without writing related quests for it first.  The rest of my plans are secret for now though, as I like to keep them that way in order to gloat over them.

 Have fun, all!

Meet the Makanos!

taliasolo | 25 October, 2010 18:42

Hello everyone, and please welcome the Makanos.

The bald man on the far left is Momo Makano himself, and arranged neatly from left to right are his three children, Tamao, Kyohei and Naie. I've been visiting their house in Bakkistan often for these past few months, as they supply me with ample amounts of Nigiri Sushi, Miso Soup, and other japanese delicacies commonly unfound in NEaB.  It's become a sort of habit for me to drop in every Tuesday night (sometimes with Nasy and sometimes with Kyp Durron) to help prepare dinner, enjoy it in the traditional japanese style, and then finish off the meal with Sake and a long evening chat.

Momo Makano is a very hardworking, intelligent man, and he has apparently passed these traits down to his children.  For Tamao, that means setting up her own Accounting firm.  Kyohei has been gathering up resources to apply to Lucky U, and as for Naie...well, she can worry about that later.  For now, she just needs to concentrate on learning how to drive.

Admittedly, a release related to the Spy Club or Denny Cringe questlines would definitely have been more adventurous, but having gotten to know this family pretty well, I felt that the least I could do was help them out a bit by giving players the opportunity to assist them with their goals.  Visit Bakkistan, talk to the family, and then determine whether you'd be interested in helping them with their quests.  I'm pretty sure in the end, you'll want to.

As usual, PM TaliaSolo with any bugs or questions.

Who am I?

taliasolo

Talia was a quiet girl, and everyone thought that she was the kind of person to settle down and get married. As a result, it was a great shock to her family and friends when Talia announced that she was leaving home to sail the world of Nowhere Else.

She began her adventures sometime in Sep. 2007. Although she has kept her silent demeanor and can rarely ever be found in chat, she manages to juggle her quests in Nowhere Else with her studies as a high school student and Vampire Mage.

She has since married Nasrudin and they have lived happily ever after.
